چکیده

We present an efficient tool for the numerical simulation of high speed flows in two and threedimensional domains. The space discretization is carried out with the finite volume method on unstructured triangular and tetrahedral meshes. In order to achieve sufficiently accurate capturing of shock waves, we have applied the anisotropic mesh adaptation technique which seems to be very suitable for problems with complicated geometries. The anisotropic mesh adaptation is a universal adaptive method which can be used without any modification for the numerical solution of arbitrary boundary value problem. Numerical examples of supersonic and transonic flows are presented.

Adaptation of Structured Grid for Supersonic and Transonic Flows

Two distinct redistribution grids - adaptation techniques, spring analogy and elliptic grid generator are applied to two-dimensional steady, inviscid, shocked flows, and the ability of each technique is examined and compared. Euler equations are solved base on Roe's Reimann solver approach to simulate supersonic flow around a sphere, transonic flow about an airfoil and supersonic flow in a symm...

Transonic Turbulent Flow Simulation using Pressure-Based Method and Normalized Variable Diagram

A pressure-based implicit procedure to solve the Euler and Navier-Stokes equations on a nonorthogonal mesh with collocated finite volume formulation is described. The boundedness criteria for this procedure are determined from Normalized Variable diagram (NVD) scheme. The procedure incorporates the ε−k eddy-viscosity turbulence model. The algorithm is tested for inviscid and turbulent transonic ...

Transonic and Supersonic Overtaking of a Projectile Preceding a Shock Wave

In this paper, two-dimensional and axisymmetric, time dependent transonic and supersonic flows over a projectile overtaking a moving shock wave are considered. The flow is simulated numerically by solving full time averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The equations are linearized by Newton approach. The roe’s flux splitting method, second order central difference scheme for the diffusion terms, an...

Anisotropic Adaptation for Transonic Flows with Turbulent Boundary Layers

Simulation of wall-bounded turbulent flows poses significant challenges and requires tightly controlled mesh spacing and structure near the walls. Semi-structured or hybrid meshes are often used for turbulent boundary layer flows. These meshes not only account for complex geometry but also maintain highly anisotropic, graded and layered elements near the walls. However, for engineering flow pro...

On the use of anisotropic a posteriori error estimators for the adaptative solution of 3D inviscid compressible flows

This paper describes the use of an a posteriori error estimator to control anisotropic mesh adaptation for computing inviscid compressible flows. The a posteriori error estimator and the coupling strategy with an anisotropic remesher are first introduced. The mesh adaptation is controlled by a single-parameter tolerance (TOL) in regions where the solution is regular, whereas a condition on the ...
